The Following

S1 – 7.2/10 / S2 – 6.5/10./ S3 – 6/10. / … Ambitious and chillingly dark in concept and scope, The Following delivers a good but flawed and sometimes misguided story.

S1 – 7.2/10

Most Memorable Moment: 1. Joe Carroll’s return to The Following mansion with Fever Ray’s “If I Had A Heart” playing in the background, 2. Pilot Girl with the Ice Pick and Poe’s writing all over her

Pros: Unbelievable pilot episode, chillingly dark and ambitious in concept of a massive killercult hiding in plain sight, phenomenal acting from Kevin Bacon and James Purefoy, great acting by side characters too in the somewhat flatly-written roles they’re given, great soundtrack,

Cons: Frustratingly over-focused on the cult members’ relationships and interpersonal drama as well as the FBI instead of the horror part promised by the brilliant pilot, tone gets too light-hearted and overly dramatic at times for a show with this dark a concept – misguided perhaps by Fox, the Followers could be more intimidating and experienced ESPECIALLY Jacob and Paul, too many extraneous filler episodes and plot points, should have unveiled a different cult member in a chilling way each episode (like in Hannibal) to match the level of the pilot, lackluster back half of the season

Overall Rating – 7.2/10
