Call of Duty: Black Ops IV (2018)

After an extremely disappointing BO III, Treyarch is finally back with a passably modernized return to the originals with strong map design, fine Battle Royale, & a nostalgic-feeling Zombies. Black Ops is finally decent again. 5.6/10.

Plot Synopsis: Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 is a multiplayer first-person shooter developed by Treyarch and published by Activision. It was released worldwide for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One on October 12, 2018.

Pros: Stunning map design with brilliant reinventions of All-Time iconic COD maps like Firing Range with day and night motifs, Jungle with crisp greens and browns, and best of all: Nuketown in an incredibly clever Cold War snowy Christmas-like remix invoking that nostalgic feel while giving fans something tangible to hold onto and undeniably snjoy while also featuring great new ones like the tropical Contraband, aquamarine Frequency, and Spanish Hacienda, Battle Royale cashing in on the Fortnite craze but on the original first-person shooter that arguably does it just as well while focusing more on the BR instead of building (my main gripe with FN), incredible Zombies after the freaking awful BO3 Zombies that felt too esoteric and unlike its brilliant kin in the franchise with enthralling setting choices like a magically-chaotic Titanic

Cons: Poor gun choices – compared to even earlier versions of the game, it seems the gun choices are getting worse and worse with head-scratching decisions when it would’ve been better to just keep with the roster of the originals, gameplay doesn’t feel too much different from the originals despite having years more – should’ve tinkered a bit more by now, needed character customizability
