Albeit still one of the most inane franchises in moviemaking history, LR at least takes cue from smart slasher brands with a modern (fandom-service) sequel to its original film – with better horror, comedy, acting, & Leprechaun design. 4.2/10.

Halloween (2018)
A brutal, deliciously-wicked proper sequel to Carpenter’s 1978 classic, 2018’s HWN: old-school, originals-authentic horror stylishly-modernized with psychoanalytical complexity, 2010’s technology, A+ new directions, return of scream queen. 8.2/10.

Man of Steel (2013)
Breathtaking cinematography/score, pure science-fiction, IQ-advanced exposition on 21st-century immigrant experience, powerful epic action scenes; a sophisticated modern-restylization of first & greatest superhero; what reboots should be. 9.5/10.

Netflix’s The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina (2018)
A stylish, macabric TV series at home with sister Archie Comics property Riverdale, Netflix/WB’s take on Sabrina is a well-cast (but politicized) love-letter to classic horror & coming-of-age stories – & one of the better witch takes in media. 8.4/10.

Titans (2018)
A bold, dark new take on the team for mature audiences, Titans is an addictive Netflix-like binge w/ chilled mise-en-scene, near-perfect castings (except Starfire), R-tone, & indie crowd-pleasers like Hawk & Dove, Wonder Girl, Doom Patrol. 9.1/10

Prom Night (2008)
The glamorized elegance of its luxurious prom romanticization in setting, cast, & visual canvas gave a perfect slasher-setting deserving a far better story exposition and execution – predictable, generic, poorly-acted, and heavily clichéd. 3/10.

House Of Wax (2005)
A creative small-town Ambrose set design & scary concept of being frozen without control in a waxy purgatory light this re-imagination of Pryce’s 50’s version only to be blown out by clichés, moronic (poorly-acted) characters.. & Paris Hilton. 3.2/10.

The Legend Of Tarzan (2016)
Though impressive in world-building and action scenes, TLOZ wastes a ridiculously stacked cast and revisionist’s historical lesson of big ideas on a lethargic, generic, & overtly-anachronistic slog – something old we’ve seen too many times before. 5/10.

Blair Witch (2016)
Much scarier, better cinematographed, clever in its lore-expansion, and stronger than 1999’s original in every cinematic aspect except found-footage reinvigorized originality, Blair Witch shows what BWP’s vision could’ve been at maximum. 7.6/10.
