Though its simiiforme protagonist could’ve benefited from a more fantasized design, Kong ’05 epitomizes what a reboot should be – one that modernizes a classic with groundbreaking magic of 21st-century VFX while maintaining its heart/authenticity and exploring alternative routes like dialing up the nature/adventure. 8.7/10.
