More Than A Game (2009)

The origin documentary for one of the greatest basketball players of all-time, MTAG’s bizarrely-saturated but auteristically-staged visuals, amplification of the come-up to his early friends/teammates, and cogitation of the metaphor of sports for life and escapism from dire circumstances make it a classic. 8.5/10.

Plot Synopsis: Filmmaker Kristopher Belman chronicles the early career of basketball superstar LeBron James. James and four other talented teammates were a powerhouse combination at St. Vincent-St. Mary High School in Akron, Ohio. The five star athletes burned up the courts throughout Ohio, but James’ ever-increasing celebrity threatened to tear apart all the five had worked so hard to achieve.
