Thanks to good Ju-On-esque make-up design, spectral aggression, a luxuriously-grandiose setting, and clever hidden-analysis theme of the replacability/expendability of the help reframed for scares, The Maid is a nice Thai indie that ~overcomes its haunted clichés – and jump-scares. 6.7/10.
