Though it succumbs to ~every blockbuster sequel cliché, overkidifies, and Schwartz’ manicism vexes/immiscibles w. Carrey oftentimes, Sonic 2 is a major +1 improvement over the original made specifically to celebrate the fandom who fought for its cinexistence – deep video game lore and celebration [down to exact box art recreations], epic Knuckles-led character appearances, over-the-top VFX live/animation spectacle, wacky golden-age arcade nostalgia charm. Put a ring on it. 6.2/10.
