A return to the wonder, magic, & spectacle that made fans fall in love with A New Hope ~40 years ago, TFA is pure sci-fi fantasy adventure with intriguing new characters & villain, breathtaking 21st-century VFX/CGI, & something new to say/add to the SW saga. 8.7/10.

Plot Synopsis: 30 years after the defeat of the Galactic Empire, the galaxy faces a new threat from the evil Kylo Ren (Adam Driver) & his First Order. When a defector named Finn (John Boyega) crash-lands on a desert planet, he meets Rey (Daisy Ridley), a tough scavenger whose droid contains a top-secret map. Together, the young duo joins forces with Han Solo (Harrison Ford) to make sure the Resistance receives the intelligence concerning the whereabouts of Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill), the last of the Jedi.

Pros: Much more fast-paced with thankfully beautifully rendered with top-notch CGI and technical effects – extremely refreshing as the originals while achieving storytelling magic were limited by the technology of their time and TFA feels like that spiriti updated to the new millenium with crisp, clear visuals and great cinematography from the very first opening scene, John Boyega’s character redemption arc of Stormtrooper who realized what he was doing is wrong is great to see, Daisy Ridley’s Rey and Adam Driver’s Kylo Ren steal the show as Daisy a charismatic and impeccably-acted original Luke-feeling protagonist and Kylo Ren a strong, intimidating villain from the very get-go with a scary-sounding voice, good costume, and things like being able to stop a blaster shot in mid air with the force while talking and filling huge, almost IMPOSSIBLE-to-fill shoes in Vader and doing it satisfyingly, love the storyline in that it doesn’t use cheap tricks to revive past storylines and totally takes the franchise in new, bold directions with entirely new characters that fit in the series while not trying to one-up it, great scoring with injected energy that makes the movie glide and wows with thrilling action scenes like the opening Kylo introduction, Millenium Falcon chase, in Jakku, First Order vs. Resistance, , surprises galore in things Star Wars fans will love like references to the originals and even old faces returning like Han Solo, Leia, and at the end: LUKE!, dark moments thankfully (although not enough) like the stunning and chilling First Order planet destruction scene in the Nazi-esque snow scene and Kylo’s “interaction” with Solo, fantastic final act that takes itself and the loire seriously and delivers shocking and stunning sequences like Solo’s exit, Kylo vs. Finn & Rey in the snow, & meeting with Luke on the beautiful Irish seaside mountain that leaves you unbelievable hyped for Ep. VIII
Cons: Some cheesy lines like “it’s the right thing to do” and jokes peppered in where they do not need to be in MCU fashion (e.g. during the big Kylo Ren confrontation in the opening scene, etc.).. -__-, noticeable lull in the middle act when visiting Maz
