A mystery with Biblical intrigue and Renaissance elegance, Brown’s 2003 NYT-bestseller gets an okay film adaptation – buoyed by its starpower and Hanks-lead.. but dimlit, intumescent, undisciplined, talkative, and stuck in the dark-ages as a megaplex product of cinematically. 5/10.
