The Purge (The TV Series)

Horrifically acted with snail-slow pacing, dramatically nerfed budget, and cop-out exposition spread too thin through overloaded dull character arcs given more focus than the event, this shameless Purge gimmick.. barely offers any Purge. 2.1/10.

Plot Synopsis: During a 12-hour period when all crime — including murder — is legal, a group of seemingly unrelated characters cross paths in a city in an altered America. While the clock winds down, some will fight, some will hide, others will embrace what it means to purge to its fullest extent — whether for revenge, personal gain, protection, or unadulterated glee. As each character is forced to reckon with his or her past and plot how to better their futures, they soon discover how far they will go on Purge Night.

Most Memorable Moment: Stopping watching this show

Pros: Cool opening credits sequence, Ms. Barber and the Purge party somewhat interesting storylines, good dubstep scoring, some good exploration of Purge ideologies the movies missed like how it seemingly fits in with the American idea most feel of pure freedom to do anything without any governing sort of structure from religion to government

Cons: Awful acting it’s clear they scraped the bottom of the barrel seemingly picking up cast members off the street who have no experience and it shows, WAY too slow and long an opening with uninteresting characters there are too many of and pacing so slow you wish the Purge would take you away – seriously? ticking down seemingly each minute until the Purge starts and making viewers wait all the way until the end of the entire first episode for the Purge to start when that is literally the only remotely interesting thing we came for?, masks and macabre massively turned down from the movies as the only thing redeeming about the series, absolutely horrifically bad first episode, almost nonexistent focus on the Purge copping out with all these character storylines so horrifically executed and no one cares about – had to stop 2 episodes in.. my word what a disaster – so much exposition I was literally screaming internally giving it chances to get better but why would I expect it to given the quality of the series, the effect that it has being a clearly uncared about cashgrab milking the name and failing to give fans even that
